Flare was created in context of our 2D project modul in the second semester at the Mediadesign Hochschule Berlin. We only had three weeks to develop the game from the first concept to a demonstrably stage of creation with only four people. Our intro video for Flare you can see here.
Flare is a 2D jump'n'run game with a lot of puzzle and exploring elements. The player takes on the role of a little boy who ends up in a steampunk world. The game world is dark and dangerous at all times. And the player can only see as far as his lantern allows him to see. The light is the only thing with can guide the boy through the game and help him to find out why he ended up in this place and how if possible he can leave it again.
My main tasks in this project were the creation of the initial concepts and also most of the programming of this game with the help of C# and XNA.
