So here are some anatomy studies, focusing on the torso area. Also trying to understand the underlying muscles and bones. I started doing photo studies and then tried to draw the same girl again, only this time from my memory without looking at the photo reference or my drawing of it. This way you really have to focus on what you are drawing so that you are capable of doing it again without reference. Love this exercise!

Hi guys, I totally forgot to tell you that since around christmas I'm drawing in a sketchbook on a regularly basis. I never liked it, because my hand doesn't has the freedom like on a loose sheet of paper. And if I loose it all my drawings would be gone, etc pp. But when you started it really motivates you to draw every day, because you want to fill it. You want to have something to show :) Ah and if you wondered, my sketchbook is an A5 format. Now that I have the time again, I will update this blog on a weekly basis. At the moment I start everyday with a 30min gesture drawing class on pixelovely. To warm up. And afterwards I start with my usually studies, drawings, painting etc. So here you have a little peek into my sketchbook. Two days of gestures and a face drawn from photo reference. 'til next week! Hi folks, I wish you all a merry christmas and a happy new year! Unfortunately I can't stay at SlipShift after the end of my internship this year, because of financial reasons :/ But new year means a fresh start, right? So I won't give up! Here is some stuff from imagination and the initial color scheme for my illustration for you guys. I also wanted to show you some of my gestures, because they are getting better and better :) Last but not least, a started illustration I did for an contest which I sadly could't finish in time. See you in the next year! Hi folks, this month I kept up my photo studies and also studying the human face. I tried to draw and paint as much as possible from my imagination. I think the individual eyes, mouths and noses in page 3 turned out really well :) I also started an illustration. The first sketch you can see on page 4. I hope I can take it to a finished stage. So this month was kinda productive. First off I started to draw a lots of faces from imagination. Trying to think about the form and applying cast shadows. I also started to do a lot of photo studies. Mainly concentrating on picking the right colors. But also trying to paint directly without underlying line art (exception is the one the left). Really enjoyed it! Hi-ho, this month I concentrated on studying and drawing from imagination in the same rate. I did some drawings from references. Concentrating on the right placement of the facial features and starting to get into values. I also did a concept (at the left), which I really like. And I tried to apply my studies by drawing faces from imagination. See you in october! :) Hi guys, with the end of july, the company I'm working on released their second title called: Pirate Century. Through this project I had the opportunity to get in touch with the other team members, especially in the art department. Because the project was nearly finished when I joined the company there wasn't much left todo. But I did some icon creation and had time to figure out what is expected of me and how I can achieve it in the most productive way :) Now we are in concept stage for our next project, I can't tell you anything about it right now. It's under NDA. But I'm really looking forward to it, because it's my opportunity to work on a project from start to finish in the games industry. And I also really wanna do a lot of conceptual work. So I'm very pleased with everything right now! Hi, I have great news for you guys. With the start of july I also started my internship by Slipshift. It's a small games company here in berlin, germany, which are making browser games since two years now and also have already one released title: Reborn Horizon. I'm the only woman there, but the guys are really great and I enjoy working with them :) Downside is, that when I come home in the evening I'm to tired to sit down and draw some more. So there isn't much to show. Therefor I will only make one post per month, where I will show you some of my scribbles I did in breaks at work or after working hours. The stuff you can see below is all from my imagination, except for the male face drawn in green pencil on the first page. This one is drawn from life, while my boyfriend was asleep ;) This was a productive week. I studied perspective, anatomy and best of all, tried new stuff. First of I drew something abstract, what I definitively want to color some day. And I also had a lot of fun, with simply drawing without worrying about anatomy etc and slapping a lot of colors on. Really enjoyed it. I think sometimes it's important to stop thinking about doing everything right and simply have fun! Last but not least I drew some alternatives for the main character of Flare. |
